The Fifth Annual Chico Bach Festival will feature the music of Dietrich Buxtehude (1637—1707) as well as J. S. Bach (16851750) and his contemporary Domenico Scarlatti (1685—1757).

Dr. Brad Lehman, Pedal Harpsichord Recital I: Brad Lehman will play the Hill and Tyre Pedal Harpsichord in "Selections from J. S. Bach's Suites, Concertos and Caprices".

Pre-concert talk on the vocal and organ music of Dietrich Buxtehude (1637—1797) (David Rothe).

Concert: The Organ and Vocal works of Dietrich Buxtehude. The University Chamber singers and chamber orchestra will perform Buxtehude's popular choral cantata, "Alles was ihr tut". Daun Hays will sing Buxtehude's exuberant solo cantata, "O Fröhliche Stunde". David Rothe will play preludes, fugues and organ chorales by Buxtehude on the University's Centennial (Yokota) Organ.

Julia Brown, Organist (NAXOS recording artist) will play a concert featuring the music of Sweelinck, Scheidemann, Buxtehude and Bach. Her concert will show the relationship and influences of each composer on the others. Ms. Brown will play the University Centennial Organ, a South German (Silbermann/Hildebrandt) style instrument built entirely on the Chico State campus by Munetaka Yokota, with the assistance of faculty, students and community volunteers (1984—1990).
